Have you ever thought about what you are going to be when you are older? I haven’t really thought to hard on what I want to be when I get older but I have come to a decision of three different things In my opinion I don’t think that these are crazy jobs to want to have but some people might think they are. I would like to be ether a fashion designer, a cake designer, or a choreographer.
Ever since I was little I have always been interested in many different types of art but mostly drawing. I only like to draw black and white pictures and I still have some from long ago. I guess I just like less color and more detail, kind of like way back when they didn’t have a lot of color. In about second grade I remember that I stopped drawing the black and whit pictures that I was used top drawing and started top draw clothing. When I went to visit my grandparents I would show them my sketches and they would help me improve them by fixing mistakes or adding more detail. I remember that one time we made a book of my drawings and my grandma wrote a short story to go along with them. Later I found out that my grandpa was a watercolor artist and sells his paintings all over Wisconsin; this made me even more interested in art. My other grandpa died before I was born but my dad would tell me about when he would come home and he would be sitting on the sun porch painting in his spare time. We now keep some of his paintings hung around our house to remember him by, as well as my other grandpas paintings. I still draw today and every time I start a new drawing I always have both of them on my mind. So that kind of lead to drawing fashion.
Although I like to design clothing I also like to design cakes. Every year for my birthday I decorate my cake. When other family members have birthdays I will draw out my ideas for a cake on a sheet of paper and my mom will take it to the bakery to be made. When I design clothes it is in mostly black and white but not for the cakes. I love all the bright colors and how they shine as bright as the sun. I would watch cake designing shows as a little girl and point to the person on the screen and tell my mom that that’s who I wanted to be when I got older, she would just stare at me with a weird expression and say “well you can be what ever you want to be honey”. I think she truthfully wants me to have a more realistic job but I don’t care.
My next job has nothing to do with the other two but it is the one I like the most. I want to be a choreographer. When I was about four years old my mom singed me up for ballet. I preformed about three times and then stopped. I never knew why I stopped but I do know that I loved the class. When I was about seven I rejoined. We preformed once but then I had to stop for gymnastics. I still danced every night in my room and came up with routines to show my friends and family. I would dance every night and if I didn’t I would sit in bed and think about the steps in my head wile the music played on my pink Barbie boom box. I would do a dance over and over until I had it perfect so that I could show it to everyone else. Besides dancing at night the other thing that I liked to do was cheerleading which I started in fifth grade Later I found out that they had dance classes were I was taking gymnastics so I stopped gymnastics and joined dance again. We learned dances from movies such as High School Musical and later Hairspray. In sixth grade a joined the school dance team and I am still on that today and am thinking about joining a hip hop class at Fred Astaire dance studios. On the school dance team we learn many dances and perform at basketball games, as well as school assemblies. I still practice in my room every night for at least three hours per night. You may think that this is crazy but I love to dance and think it is perfectly normal. I love to dance. I love the sound of the music and the pitter patter of dance shoes on the wood floors. It is a big part of my life and I love it.
To me these are some of the most important things in my life and if I got the opportunity to spend the rest of my life doing one of them I would be as happy as a clam. Some people would think that it would be hard to have such elaborate jobs but I believe that anything is possible and I will have these jobs that I could spend my whole life doing.
